bout Robert Widders

Robert Widders was born in Liverpool. He applied to join the Royal Navy at the age of 14. He then served in all three branches of the armed services; the Royal Navy, the Army, and the RAF. His civilian career has been equally eclectic, including working as a Ranger in Africa and a Brussels sprout sorter in Cork. He also found time to study for an Honour’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Heritage Management. Robert Widders now lives in Bristol where he has just finished writing his third book, an account of the Irish soldiers imprisoned in the Japanese POW camps during the Second World War.
